AskOne for ChatGPT
AskOne is live audience Q&A and polling. The AskOne plugin lets you create a room or a poll from a ChatGPT conversation and share a link: your audience opens it on their phones, asks questions anonymously, upvotes and answers polls, with no account and no app. This guide covers adding the plugin, using it, and removing it.
Adding the plugin
- In ChatGPT, open the plugin directory and search for AskOne.
- Open its listing and add it. No AskOne account or sign-in is needed.
- Ask for what you need in any conversation, or mention AskOne by name.
What you can ask for
- A live Q&A room — for example “Create an anonymous Q&A for my webinar tomorrow”. You get three links: one to share with your audience, a projector page to show on a screen or in a screen share, and a private link to your host controls.
- A poll, quiz, rating or word cloud — for example “Make a quick poll: pizza or sushi on Friday?”. It goes live straight away in your open room, or in a new one, which also takes questions. Ask again for each further question.
- Results — “How did my poll go?” returns the survey results and the answered and approved questions from your latest room, so ChatGPT can summarise them or draft a FAQ.
- Closing a room — “Close my Q&A room” stops new questions, votes and answers. ChatGPT asks you to confirm first, because a closed room cannot be reopened; its questions stay readable until it is deleted.
- A new host link — each host-controls link works once, within 10 minutes. Ask for a new one whenever you need it.
Running the session
- Every question is screened by AI before anyone sees it. Questions it is unsure about wait for you to approve or hide them in your host controls.
- In the host controls you can also run and close polls and close the room. Open the projector page on the screen your audience can see.
- You can have one open room at a time. If you ask for a new room while one with questions or polls is open, ChatGPT offers to close it first; an empty open room is simply reused.
What the plugin can and cannot see
ChatGPT sends AskOne an anonymized identifier that OpenAI creates for this plugin, not your name, email address or OpenAI account, and only what each request needs: a room name, or a poll’s question and choices. AskOne does not receive your conversation. Results returned to ChatGPT contain question text and vote counts, never participants’ names. The details are in our Privacy Policy.
Removing the plugin
- In ChatGPT’s settings, open the plugins you have added.
- Select AskOne and remove it.
Removing the plugin does not send AskOne a deletion request. Rooms you started follow the automatic closure and deletion below. Rooms you kept in an AskOne organization stay there, at askone.org.
Keeping and deleting your data
A room started without an AskOne account, in Zoom, Google Meet or ChatGPT, closes automatically 48 hours after it opens, unless you close it sooner. Its questions, votes, participant hashes and display names are deleted 7 days after it closes. Cleanup runs every 15 minutes; when no rooms remain, the anonymous workspace and its keyed user hash are deleted too. Before deletion, Sign up to keep your rooms lets you move all your remaining rooms into an organization after creating an account or signing in, and confirming. Their join codes stay the same, the anonymous workspace and its user hash are removed, and the rooms follow the organization retention policy.
To keep a room, open your host controls and choose Sign up to keep your rooms. To have rooms deleted sooner, close them from the host controls or write to support@productcompass.pm.
Terms
Asking the plugin to create a room or a poll accepts our Terms and Privacy Policy. The host of a room is responsible for what is shown in it.
